?,1996
This album is important for many reasons. It was recorded during my last year at Hofstra University. It’s the first album to include a guitar—previously all music was keyboard or computer created. I didn’t really know how to play guitar, or at least this was a learning experience, but it turned out well. It wasn’t even my guitar, I had borrowed it (thanks B.K.) just to mess around with. I’d say my favorites include Dr.Pepper Lips, Twice, Glimpse, and Hook me. Dr.Pepper Lips was originally a creative writing assignment about a dream turned into a tripped out adventure. Also, the album includes 2 DJ Flash mixes (or should I say Deer Jordan Flash) called Caps and Stems. This was, to say the least, an interesting and spiritual time (1996 that is), and it comes through in the music I think. Finally, the album wraps up with a track co-written and recorded with my good friend Brian Hammond (a.k.a. Friend). In some ways I consider this the first Deer album. |
