Keyboard use (especially for percussion) was minimal.  Although I would’ve liked to have had a full drum set by now, the bongos made due.  Many tracks on this album were recorded in one or two take sessions, so it doesn’t sound quite as refined as the albums that precede it, but has a more earthy flow.

Better Yesterday is sung partially in French.  It explains the rules of chess and how to check your mate.  What it is was a tough one, and still I’m only half satisfied.  It went from being a 7 minute song, to a 10 minute song, back down to a 6 minute song.  Then I decided to blend it into a 6 minute mix I made when I was DJ FLASH, and a 12 minute + song it became.  It sounds a bit choppy, but by then I was tired of it and wanted to move on.  On I moved to my favorite on the album—Musings Again.

The entire album was written and recorded in the order that it is presented on the CD.  I’ve done this before, and often feel that it’s the best way for me to work.  Although it was only partially intended, I can now say after examining it that it is definitely a concept album.  It just so happens that sometimes my subconscious mind takes care of these things without letting me know.
