Coming off of the Guppy recordings with Ryan Barfield on percussion, I wouldn’t be satisfied with using drum machines again. So, I commanDEERed him to do the drums for a Deer album. What’s amazing about this album is simply that… the drums, and he recorded them all in 1 day ! Well, he didn’t exactly record all of the songs though… I rehashed, cut, pasted, time-stretched and time-shrunk drum parts from other songs to create the drum tracks for Windows, No Hay Cantante, and I think 1 more. But what Ryan accomplished here is awe inspiring. It wasn’t even a matter of recording them all in 1 day, but for the most part, hearing the songs for the first time and writing the drum parts right then and there.
Then there are the videos. Thanks to my good friend Ronen Gevint, Elimination Game was given life in the form of a music video. His visual take on the song brought new meaning to it. Also, Emotion Stone was my first attempt at making a music video on my own. Both are worth your 5 minutes, but I can’t steal those from you just yet. I hope to upload them to this site soon, so check back.
