August 2007

This was a departure for me in 1 major way.  I decided to lose the keyboards on this album.  No keyboard sounds, no keyboard effects, no keyboard/electronic drums…. No keyboards!  Okay, I think I’ve made my point.  It’s a rocker for me, especially the first few songs.  Just over 37 minutes long in total, so it’s easy to digest.  I hope you agree, we don’t want anyone getting ill.

The songs on this album were all a result of late night messing around and capturing ideas on a mini tape recorder.  To be honest, I wasn’t sure if they would later be used for a new Deer album, or perhaps towards the next Guppies project.  But, with the collaboration conditions being less than preferred for Ryan and I, I decided to push ahead with a new Deer before the baby arrives.  Yes, baby girl will be here next month!  (it’s September 15th as I’m writing this).  Hence song # 7.  Actually, there are a few songs that have baby-girl-on-the-mind roots.  The cover photo features my wife Erika back in the day.  That’s me on the left.  I hope you listen to it, and I hope you like it.  Until next time…
